Golfing in Sumner County
Bear Trace at Chickasaw - "One of the Top Ten You Can Play" by Golf Magazine, The Bear Trace at Chickasaw offers a heavy wooded, 7100 yard, par 72 track that is challenging for all skill levels. With its natural wetlands and handed crafted log clubhouse The Bear Trace at Chickasaw is as scenic a golf course you will ever play.

The Bear Trace at Ross Creek Landing is the fifth Jack Nicklaus designed golf course in Tennessee. Located in Clifton along the banks of the Tennessee River, this par 72 course play over 7000 yards from the black tees. Some fun features of this course are 2 par fives that longer hitting golfers can reach the green in two and a par 4 fourth that is able to be reached in one.

The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay was the second course Located approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Chattanooga, the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay is surrounded by both water and heavily-wooded land, making an ideal setting for the course. This course is considered a "water" course by having 12 of the 18 holes have water hazards. It is a more user friendly course by giving the average golfer good opportunity to make the green in regulation with the majority of its approaches to the front of the green wide open. Fairway and green side bunkers are designed in the traditional Nicklaus fashion.

If recreational activities are what you are looking for, your biggest problem will be choosing which one to do. There are parks, golf courses, campgrounds, and marinas. There are also leagues and programs for all ages to join and have fun.

Old Hickory Lake covers 26 miles and provides everything from picnic and camping facilities to water skiing, boating, and a wildlife-viewing site.
