Demographics

As it was in 1797 when it was named for one of its first settlers, Nolensville today is a small, peaceful town in the rolling hills of northeastern Williamson County. When William Nolen?s wagon broke down in Middle Tennessee, he was en route to find a place to set down roots with his wife Sarah and five children. After finding an abundance of game, rich soil, and fresh water on the future site of Nolensville, the family decided to build a log cabin, a farm, and a peach orchard there. Today the city has a population of 3,099 and Williamson County is the fastest-growing county in the state. Covering 9.5 square miles, the community boasts a small-town ambiance that belies its location that is just minutes from the big-city excitement and amenities of Nashville.

The county enjoys a robust economy that is focused on industry and agriculture, with over $30 million annually derived from the sales of agricultural products. Six major highways and a major railroad cross the county and its residents are served by Nashville International Airport. Williamson County has two highly rated public school systems and several private schools. Both of the public school systems, The Williamson County Board of Education and the Franklin Special School District, received the Governor?s A+ Award for Excellence in Education.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Just 15 minutes from Nashville and in proximity to Franklin, the county seat, the Nolensville area offers plenty to see and do. Exciting Nashville, the state capital, also known as ?Music City, USA,? is a mecca for country music stars and fans, who are drawn to the down-home country urban ambiance of the city. The Grand Old Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie?s Orchid Lounge and myriad bars and pubs that feature live music are the places to be for music fans. A must-do is the Nash Trash Tour, a lively bus tour which includes performances during your ride and country music industry gossip galore.

Art and Cultural

The Nolensville-Nashville area offers a wide variety of options for those who appreciate the arts. Nashville?s Tennessee Performing Arts Center is the area?s primary performing arts venue and is home to the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, the Nashville Ballet, the Nashville Opera, and the Tennessee Repertory Theatre, as well as the Tennessee State Museum. Nashville also has many interesting museums and art galleries such as the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art and the Frist Center for Visual Arts.

Recreation and Sports

The area boasts many beautiful parks including Tennessee Bicentennial Mall State Park, Long Hunter State Park, Radnor Lake State Park, Montgomery Bell State Park, and Cedars of Lebanon State Park. Nashville hosts the NFL?s Tennessee Titans, the NHL?s Nashville Predators, and NASCAR at the Nashville Speedway.
