Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping
The historic center of Franklin offers over 70 shops and eateries. See Franklin on foot with guided tours of this picturesque town. Enjoy leisurely strolls through the town and view the Victorian and Art Deco architecture of the 19th century. Bed and breakfast lodgings, antique shops, farmer?s markets, tea rooms, theaters, cinemas, coffee shops, and boutiques comprise the historic core of Franklin.

Recreation and Sports
Franklin offers its residents a highly organized City Recreation Department with athletic leagues for the city?s youth and adults. Residents enjoy the city maintained pedestrian trails, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic facilities. The Williamson County Recreation Complex provides an indoor/outdoor pool, an indoor walking track, tennis and racquetball courts, volleyball courts, weight rooms, and two full-size gyms.

Golf House Tennessee, situated on 15 acres, features a 9-hole short course, a teaching complex, and a golf museum, the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame. Throughout Franklin are numerous public and private golf courses and tennis and golf residential communities. An ice skating arena provides two full-sized rinks, a dance studio, a pro-shop, and hockey and figure skating programs for Franklin residents.

The NHL?s Nashville Predators and NFL?s Tennessee Titans provide the competitive edge at the Coliseum, located on the east bank of the Cumberland River across from downtown Nashville. Franklin and Nashville residents cheer the athletes in the 67,000 spectator seat sports venue.

Education
Franklin residents value education for the young learners of the city. Part of the Williamson County School District, Franklin students attend the city?s 12 elementary, 5 middle, and 3 high schools.

A recent article in the Nashville Business Journal reported that were 3,236 homes sold in the month compared to 3,130 in April a year ago. And the sales picture looks bright for May, as well. There were 3,458 sales pending at the end of the month compared to 3,623 last year. Home sales in the greater Nashville area rose 3.3 percent in April compared to the same month a year ago.

Several notable post-secondary schools are in the immediate area surrounding Franklin. Vanderbilt University, a private educational institution founded in 1873, consists of ten schools: four undergraduate and six graduate schools. The US News & World Report magazine ranked the Vanderbilt University Medical Center on the Honor Roll of the Nation?s Best Hospitals. The medical center earns distinction with its medical education, patient care, and superior research techniques. Other colleges and universities in the Franklin area are Belmont University, Fisk University, Nashville State Community College, and Tennessee State University.

Art and Culture
For cultural diversions, Franklin residents enjoy entertainment at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in nearby Nashville. The Center is located in the James K. Polk Cultural Center, which features four unique performance theaters. The Tennessee Repertory Theater, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, the Nashville Opera, and the Nashville Ballet are the resident groups of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
