Golfing in Davidson County:
- Belle Meade Country Club - Very scenic traditional course. Challenging to the most experienced of golfer. Large oak trees affect shots, and water hazards come into play on a number of holes. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 4th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. A lottery system is used on the previous Thursday for tee times for the following Saturday. Furthermore, tee times are reserved on Friday for the following Sunday. Tee times for the weekdays are reserved seven days in advance.
- Harpeth Hills Golf Course - Greens are elevated and mildly undulating. Mature trees line the fairways, and there is a creek that comes into play on one hole. One of the most difficult holes is #18, a 427-yard, par 4, requiring an uphill tee shot to a landing area which is protected by trees, then an uphill approach shot to an elevated green. This is one of seven municipal courses in the local area.
- McCabe Field Golf Course - This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. However, the Middle and South courses are generally combined for public play, and the North Course is generally played as a separate nine hole course. Only when tournaments are being played will the club allow this combination to be reconfigured. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens are large and fast. The terrain is flat and very walkable, with no water coming into play anywhere on the course. This course is one of seven municipal courses in the local area.
