The Orlando Metro area consists of seven counties in central eastern Florida: Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, and Seminole. From the family playground of the Walt Disney World resorts in Osceola County, to the Space Coast region of Brevard County, to the beautiful lake district of Lake County, there is something unique for everyone in this exciting area of central Florida.

The fabulous resorts of Walt Disney World provide countless hours of family fun. Nearby, International Drive offers additional family entertainment with the stadium-style movie theatres, go-cart racing, live music venues and dance clubs, and world-class shopping in major brand name outlet stores. International Drive even boasts the world's largest McDonald's restaurant.

About a thirty minute drive from the resorts of Osceola County the city of Titusville in Brevard County offers its residents a charming downtown historic district with unique gift shops, restaurants, and a riverside park. From the park benches along the riverside, shuttle and rocket launches can be viewed from nearby Kennedy Space Center, NASA headquarters.

NASA shares this land with Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge consists of 140,000 acres and is a wintering home for countless migratory birds because of its temperate and sub-tropical climate zones. Area residents can enjoy bird watching, fishing, canoeing and hiking as NASA launches shuttles just miles away.

Brevard County is home to the city of Cocoa Beach, known as the Surfing Capital of the Florida east coast. Approximately six miles long, Cocoa Beach is one of the best locations for spectacular sunrises.

Northeast of Brevard County is Lake County, an area known for its beautiful spring-fed lakes. The city of Mount Dora, on the shores of Lake Dora, is considered the Antique Capital of the South. Strolling through the historic downtown district, residents can browse in the various boutiques and galleries, or sip cappuccinos on the lakeside boardwalk.

Mount Dora has numerous Bed and Breakfast lodgings and hotels. The most notable is the Lakeside Inn built in 1883. Designed in the Old Florida style of architecture with sweeping verandas and high ceilings, cool breezes can be enjoyed from the shores of Lake Dora while watching antique boats motor across the water.

Due south of Lake County is Polk County and the city of Lakeland, home to Florida Southern College. Many buildings on this campus were designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In the nearby city of Lake Wales, Historic Bok Sanctuary owns 250 acres of beautiful gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, landscape designer of New York?s Central Park. The Sanctuary is also home to a 205 foot marble and coquina bell tower which features daily recitals, nature trails, picnic facilities and an Education and Visitor Center for art exhibits.

The city of Winter Park in Orange County offers Park Avenue as its location for upscale shopping, gift shops, art galleries, and delightful eateries. Window shopping along the tree-lined sidewalks or sitting on a park bench in the park square enjoying the sunshine, Park Avenue has just about everything for the discriminating shopper.

Winter Park is also home to Rollins College, the state?s first private college, which was established in 1885. The campus has many historic buildings in the Spanish Mediterranean architectural style and sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Virginia. Every February the college hosts a Bach Festival, one of only three such festivals in the country.
