Jacksonville is a thriving metropolis in which historical landmarks, renovated old neighborhoods, skyscrapers and the ambiance of the Old south blend. It is one of the oldest and largest cities in the United States. Jacksonville manages to grow and still to sustain its charm and heritage. It is known as "Florida's Business City." The St. Johns River is the nations longest north flowing river and it loops through the heart of Jacksonville. The sun beats down on the water and cast glimmering shadows against the tall glass skyscrapers. It is considered one of the banking and insurance capitals of the South. Southern charm merging with advanced technology make this locale a place of intrigue.

The downtown waterfront area is a main focal point in Jacksonville. The Riverwalk is a 1.2 mile wooden boardwalk bordering the St. Johns River. It's a great place for a stroll, shopping, or just a resting on one of the numerous benches and watch the river boats cruising and the plentiful water fowl. Also located in the area are memorials, museums and the Jacksonville Historical Society. Seafood fests, parties, parades and craft festivals all take place on the Riverwalk. Water taxis are available from the Riverwalk to the Jacksonville Landing. The Jacksonville beaches are only 12 miles from the downtown area.

Amelia Island is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway and Nassau Sound. A barrier island with 13 miles of beautiful beach front located just off the northeastern tip of Florida. Spanish settlers migrated to the island around 1566, which was originally inhabited by the Timucuan Indians. Amelia Island is just 35 minutes from downtown Jacksonville.

Fernandina Beach located in the northern section of the island once a pirate's haven, it is now a productive shrimping and fishing center. The 50 block section of the downtown area is a kaleidoscope of gorgeous Victorian and Queen Anne homes listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The main beach located in Fernandina is the center of activity that includes free parking for picnics, swimming, playgrounds and a host of food concessions. This area is extremely popular for family outings. The bustling downtown area has numerous vintage shops and charming boutiques. The Palace Saloon claims to be Florida's oldest watering hole. Live music bounces off the pressed tin ceilings and the mahogany bar once played host to the Carnegies and the duPonts. Fort Clinch State Park is secluded and sports white sandy beaches and a fantastic fishing pier. There are 62 campsites available at this wonderful park. The island is surrounded by water, rolling sand dunes and lush vegetation.

Duval County has 840 square miles and its population is around 730,000 Nassau County covers 671 square miles, with a population of around 55,000
