Brevard County stretches for 75 miles along the Atlantic Coast and covers 1310 square miles, with a population nearing 470,000. The Space Coast is known as a high-tech center of the Southeast. The 1920's brought the city's present name of Palm Bay with it. The town was so named after the bay, bordered with palm trees, situated at the mouth of Turkey Creek. An economic catalyst was provided in the 1940's when the United States navy expanded into the area with air stations. Since the 1950's space related industries moved into the area and modern industry had arrived.

Over the years, the City has continued to grow and now more than 78,000 residents call it home. The City of Palm Bay has approximately 800 miles of roads and swales to maintain. At build-out, it is projected that the City will have more than 250,000 residents.
